May 2014
Before our regional AGM in March some of us had a guided tour around the glorious Salisbury Cathedral. In the heart of Wiltshire and visible for miles around it was a real treat to learn more about its history and spend some time in this sacred place. We were also gifted the presence of a concert which was unplanned wafting ambient music to sweep us along.
The AGM itself was well attended, Bill Britt stood down as secretary with our thanks, and we welcome 3 new members to the committee: Jo our new secretary, Sue working on PR, and Rebecca who is looking after our regional website. We concluded with a most excellent talk by Lisa Benn who shared some of her knowledge of animal healing, a big thank you to Lisa to her dog too for being really patient throughout the boring bits. We hope to up the profile of the region over the next coming months and continue to support healers and centres who are continuing to do a great job.
Winchester has a new development group at the Quaker meeting house, whose numbers are rapidly growing. The group is aimed at supporting student healers and is run by Annie Britt.
Winchester Healing Support Group at Badgers Farm led by Doreen Rivett is doing well and the energy and dynamics are always changing. It is mainly healing trust people, but like to welcome others. Their group mission is:
To provide an open and welcoming environment to healers and fellow travellers, where they can meet like-minded people to share their experiences and learn from each other in a flexible group framework. The group meets on the third Saturday of the month 10am –1pm
The Wickham Group continues to thrive and are opening a Weekly Healing Clinic on Thursdays between 2 and 3.30 at the Wickham Community Centre. Marjorie Nutland is slowly easing up with her commitment and is working in tandem with Jane Goodhall who will take over. Two students are shortly to go to panel.
Fleet NFSH THT ebbs and flows. For many years the evening group was vibrant and now it is the afternoon group.
In June the evening group celebrates its 30th birthday. Later in the year Maggie Gifford celebrates being in the NFSH THT for 25 years. Big congratulations to both the Fleet Group and to Maggie.
The healers in both groups are dedicated, committed and a truly wonderful group of people. Maggie feels blessed to be supported by them.
The Hands of Oak Healing Group in Havant is still going despite losing one of their lovely healers to Bonnie Scotland in November. They now total three healers and would love for some harmonious souls to join our healing team, even if it's only occasionally. They meet at the Bear Hotel on the first and third Tuesday evenings of each month (first only in Dec) at 7.00pm and finish around 9pm. Please contact Sue on 07808 259005 for more info.
After many years of committed service Marjorie Banyard is retiring from service from the Binfield and Wokingham groups , both of which she established. Marjorie was also our regional panel co-ordinator for a long time. We would like to thank Marjorie very much for all of her hard work and committment to healing over the years and wish her well in her retirement.
